Hi! This is Mary Wong from Hong Kong.I am a registered

nurse specialized in baby nursing.

I suffered from chronic fatigue syndrome in 1994.

My symptoms

1. I had severe fatigue not relieved by sleep.

2. I had chronic pain over muscles of my body.

3. I found it difficult to concentrate thus I was unable to

    work.

4. I also had very painful menstrual periods .

5. My hands and feet were always cold.

One morning I called in sick and stayed at home,the

thought of killing myself came into my mind.

While I was trying to figure out how to commit

suicide,suddenly my pager rang and it was one of my

friends asking me for some information.

I called her back,she  sensed that something was wrong

with me and asked me what was wrong.

I started crying and told her I wanted  to kill myself.

She told me to get something to eat and then she called

back later to talk to me.

I am glad that she called and saved my life.

My Healing Journey

Before I had the chronic fatigue syndrome I only trusted

the western medicine.When I was having the chronic

fatigue syndrome my friend introduced me to other

complementary therapies.

What I did to heal myself

I consulted a chiropractor.

He asked to do some tests on my hair and saliva.

The results showed that I had heavy metal poisoning

and food allergy.

I am sensitive to gluten ,soy ,and white sugar.

1. I was advised to stop eating gluten ,soy ,and white

    sugar.

2. I started to only eat gluten free whole grains, and

    natural wholesome foods .

3. Every morning I ate cottage cheese with flaxseed

     oil(Dr.Budwig diet).

4. A smoothie made with organic grape juice and

    sprouts.I abstained from drinking tea and coffee.

5. He also prescribed homeopathic medicines , vitamins

    and mineral supplements.

6. I also had sessions of spinal adjustments and

    hydropathy ( alternative hot and cold compression

   to the body).

7. I had aromatherapy massage weekly.

8. I went swimming every day during my treatment.

9. I started to practise meditation in the morning and

     evening.

10. I reduced my stress level by taking time off work,

     doing exercises, meditate ,stop drinking coffee and

     tea.

11. joining friends for fun activities.

12. I went to bed early and get 8 hours of sleep every

      night.

After about 3 months I started to get better and got back to

work.

I recovered completely about 6 months after being

diagnosed with chronic fatigue syndrome.

Since then I started to learn more about other alternative

therapies such as :

1. nutritional therapy

2. massage

3. aromatherapy

4. homeopathy

5. Bach flower essence therapy

I also learned Traditional Chinese Medicine such as

1.  Chinese diet therapy

2. acupressure

3. Chinese cupping technique

I learned about other diet therapies such as Macrobiotic

diet and Body Ecology Diet.

What I learned

In my journey of healing from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

I could not rely solely on Western medicine alone to

recover from diseases .

Sometimes other models of medicine and healing

practices are needed to help me to regain health.

I am passionate about sharing what I had learned with my friends and I hope with you as well.

Besides working and learning about things that will

help me to get healthier and stronger I enjoy listening

to music ,water painting , cooking different kinds of

food and meeting up with friends.
